# Overview

> Plug your GPU machines into Runcrate with one command, set your own rates and get paid every week.

Runcrate Hosts lets you rent out the GPUs in your own machines. You run one command on each machine, set a rate per GPU model, and Runcrate sells the GPUs to its customers on spot, on-demand or reserved terms. You don't need a launch API, billing or a public IP: the machine only makes outbound HTTPS calls to Runcrate.

Customers rent from Runcrate, not from you. Their workloads run only inside virtual machines that Runcrate creates and controls on your machine, and you never see who they are.

## How it works

**1. Sign up as a host**

Open [Hosts](https://runcrate.ai/dashboard/host) in the dashboard and choose **Sign up to host**. The workspace owner signs up for the company and accepts the Host Partner Terms. Runcrate then checks the company against sanctions lists, usually within 1 business day. Where hosting is open by invitation only, the same page offers **Request an invite**.

**2. Add a machine**

On the Hosts page, choose **Add a machine** and **Create install command**, then run the command on the machine and paste the registration token when the installer asks for it. On a machine that is ready, the install takes about 35 seconds. See [Install](https://runcrate.ai/docs/hosts/install.md).

**3. Let it pass its GPU check**

The machine registers, checks its VM image, sends its first heartbeat and runs a GPU check in a throwaway VM. The dashboard shows each step: **Registered**, **Image checked**, **First heartbeat**, **GPU check**, **Online**.

**4. List the GPUs**

An online machine earns nothing until its GPUs are listed. On [Listings](https://runcrate.ai/dashboard/host/listings), choose **Add listing**, pick the tier and set your rate. See [Listings and tiers](https://runcrate.ai/docs/hosts/listings.md).

**5. Get paid**

Connect your bank through Stripe from [Payouts](https://runcrate.ai/dashboard/host/payouts).

## The money

You set your rate in US dollars per GPU-hour, and the customer price is worked out from it. At a rate of \$1.95:

> You get \$1.95 per GPU-hour. Customers pay \$2.79; Runcrate keeps \$0.84 (30% of what the customer pays).

You earn for every minute a GPU is rented. Paid every Monday through Stripe, for earnings more than 7 days old, once you're owed \$10. Paid in US dollars. If your bank account is in another currency, Stripe converts it; Runcrate pays Stripe's fees.

If a rented machine is down because of your machine, network or power, the customer isn't billed for that time and Runcrate takes back what you earned for it. Runcrate never charges or invoices you.

## The tiers

* **Spot.** Customers pay less and can be asked to give the GPU back. You can take the GPUs back at any time, after the notice you set (2 to 60 minutes).
* **On-demand.** Customers keep the GPU for as long as they run it. You can't take a rented GPU back. To stop, you drain it and keep current rentals running for 14 days.
* **Reserved.** Customers book and prepay a term of months. You keep the GPUs running for the whole term the customer booked: 1, 3, 6 or 12 months.

Spot is open to every host. On-demand and reserved open once you sign the Host Agreement, and reserved also needs a machine Runcrate has verified as Datacenter.

## What a machine needs

A bare-metal x86\_64 machine with NVIDIA GPUs, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04 or Debian 12, virtualization and IOMMU turned on, 100 GB of fast local disk and outbound HTTPS. No inbound ports, and no NVIDIA driver on the host. The full list is in [Install](https://runcrate.ai/docs/hosts/install.md#requirements).
